GBM 003 – Globe Trotting and Beer with the Gambers

Jer, Dan and the crew from High School

Dan and I go way back to High School where we played sports together.  We lost track of each other after graduation, but some years ago I reconnected with him, his wife Sarah and their two children.  When I recorded this they lived in Portland Oregon, but by the time you listen to this episode, they will already be living in Spain.

Beer in Cape Town South Africa

Whenever our families got together, he and I would catch up by philosophizing late into the evening like we did when we were kids, only this time with great beer.  It wasn’t the beer that connected us, per sé, but the beers we chose were often the centerpiece of our meal, our conversations or a veritable soundtrack of flavor.

Dan & Sarah in the Namibian Desert

Dan and Sarah are also insatiable travelers having visited more than 60 countries and have literally spent years of their lives abroad.  They recently traveled for a year with their children.  Then, after returning to Portland they started planning to move to Spain to continue feeding their wanderlust.  I thought this was the perfect opportunity to ask them to share their experiences and their stories of good beer abroad.
